Dr. Maja Brkan is Associate Professor of EU law at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University and a core member of the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity at the same university. Building upon her extensive work on data protection and fundamental rights, Brkan continues to expand her research with a focus on legal questions of artificial intelligence. On this topic, she published, prepared study materials for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and presented at numerous conferences in EU and USA. She is a member of the European AI Alliance and the associate editor of the European Data Protection Law Review, where she is responsible for management and review of case notes. Brkan regularly acts as a peer-reviewer for top journals.
